BLOG 2 Or how do you write your songs?

Great question but I don’t like answering this. LOL. It is not that I’m scared about giving away secrets because I’m not hiding anything and there are no secrets to this. Frankly, I DON” T REALLY KNOW! ha ha! I’m blessed with a ’gift’ so very late in life and I am grateful to have such a wonderful gift and that is one of my reasons to put my music out there, to give it a shot and dare to go as far as I can with my music.

There are many times creating a song that flows so easily and lovely and other times I could be struggling to piece two lines together or get a tune to sound right. All I can say is that sometimes it starts as a notion or a sentence that I try to match some chords on my guitar. It can also be the opposite way if I have a tune to start with.

Another way is when I am listening to music on radio etc. A melody or some words come to my mind and slowly it shapes up a song.  A couple of years ago I challenged my friends to come up with a title for a song and I would compose it. This led to the creation of “SUPERNATURAL’, ‘GOLF XXX’, ‘SECRETS OF THE MIND’, ‘MIND BODY & SOUL’ & “RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY”, the last came from an old nursery rhyme. I know, damn tough titles, right? But I managed to compose all those songs albeit they are not potential hit songs but good songs but you won’t find them under “Studio Mixed Releases’ column but in next few months one or more will creep into the “Unplugged or Raw” columns.

About a year ago I had a Life Coach, Wayne Donnelly whom I would vouch for in case anyone wanted to know. Wayne got me to imagine I was very successful in the future and what that felt like and I said “Peace & love to the world”, ‘My kingdom’, ‘They belief’ amongst about 20 words. He then asked me to imagine my successful self in the future and I came back to find me now in this time to tell me about my future. Then he asked me to compose a song encompassing every word. Bugger! If I had known earleir I would have given simple and fewer words. Well it took me a week and I wrote, “YOU ARE THE MAN”. Again, this is likely to creep into the ‘Unplugged or Raw’ section in a few month’s time, so keep a look out.

If you had a good title for a song and gave me some background info to incorporate into a song, I will give it a try. Thanks
